DFW Give & Share Station
ROLE: Project strategist + design consultant
PROJECT BRIEF:
DFW Give & Share Station is an innovative community fridge and pantry system developed to address food insecurity and reduce waste in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex through donations of high-quality and locally sourced goods from farmers and vendors at local marketplaces such as the Dallas Farmers Market. The DFW Give & Share Station is envisioned to be an everliving installation adorned with artistic visuals, murals, and creative signage designed by artists from the Dallas - Fort Worth community.
DELIVERABLES:
For this project, I crafted a project brief delineating the following:
Objectives focusing on food security, waste reduction, and cultural celebration
Target partner strategy emphasizing collaboration with local farms, nonprofits, and artists
Design inspiration drawn from vibrant local culture and community identity
REFLECTION:
The intent behind the DFW Give & Share Station is to encourage the radical concept of giving, and do away with the presumption that fresh and nutritious food should be limited only to those who can bear the expense.
I believe that a community fridge has the potential to be a powerful medium for both art and activism, challenging mainstream consumerist culture, spotlighting the opportunity for sustainability in charitable giving, and acting as a beacon for the less fortunate to seek nourishment and respite.
Through this project, I hope to continue to raise awareness about food insecurity in the DFW metroplex whilst shining light on creative ways to uplift and support the efforts of food assistance.
